Twelve year old Rakibul Islam was brutally and viciously killed by three men in Khulna city’s Tutpara, Bangladesh late on Monday. The assailants severely beat the child taking an air pump to the child’s rectum and barbarically taking his life.
Islam worked at a local mechanic shop owned by 28 year old Mohammad Sharif but the child left his job reporting to family that he had been frequently beaten and abused by Sharif and other adults at the shop.
Witnesses reported that the Islam was walking to a paint store on Monday when Sharif and two other adults grabbed the child and dragged him into their shop. Witnesses then reported them beating the child and undressing him. Sharif attempted to close the garage style door to the shop while the others pumped air into the child.
Locals outraged by the event began to break into the shop and beat to near death Sharif and his accomplices.
Police arrived at the scene to stop the angry mob from killing Sharif and the other assailants, but Islam died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.
Residents began protesting the killing of Islam and local NGO groups are demanding the country fully address the issue of child rights.
