Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, SOHR, reported on Friday that three Syrians trying cross the border into Turkey were killed by Turkish border guards, two of those killed were women and at least seven other civilians were also injured by the troops.
Witnesses reported that border guards urged the Syrians to “back off and return” before opening fire on them at close range.
Since late May, the SOHR reports at least 29 Syrian civilians have been killed by Turkish border guards.
Since 2011,Turkey has registered an estimated two million Syrian refugees and continues to see large numbers of Syrians seeking refuge in the country. Turkey has some twenty four refugee camps housing roughly 265,000 displaced Syrians, another estimated 1.7 million refugees live outside of the camps often sleeping rough on the streets.
