Authorities reported on Wensday reported at least one hundred and twenty five people have been killed in a wave of gang violence on the streets of El Salvador.
According to the national police deputy director Howard Cotto, forty people were killed on Sunday another forty two on Monday and on Tuesday, forty three people were slain. Cotto added, the majority of the victims were believed to be “gang members who in some way have betrayed the gangs and are murdered by those same groups.”
Authorities believe that gang members are attempting to force the government into negotiating a truce which previously existed in 2012, but later fell apart.
Authorities say they will not negotiate with criminals or give in to any of the gangs demands.
