A twenty six year old Moroccan man opened fired on a Thalys high-speed train between Amsterdam and Paris on Friday. The man was reportedly armed with a Kalashnikov AK47 rifle, other automatic weapons and knives.
At least three people are reported to be injured including a US Marine and French actor Jean-Hugues Anglade.
French media reported that the passengers who overpowered the suspect were US Marines who had heard the man loading a weapon while in restroom and confronted him when he came out.
Images shared on Twitter show a man being restrained on the station platform in Arras and carried away by police.
Anti-terror officers have taken over the case.
