One week ago in northern Kwazulu-Natal, a coastal South African province, the body of twenty one year old Thandazile Mpunzi, a woman with albinism, was found horrifically mutilated in a shallow grave.
Police reported on Monday that eighteen year old Siyabonga Gwala, nineteen year old Lindokuhle Khumalo and nineteen year old Mandla Mabuza had been arrested in connection with the grizzly murder. Sixty five year old Bhekukufa Gumede, who is considered a preacher, was arrested on Sunday and charged with murder.
According to reports police did not identify the woman horrifically and brutally murdered as a person with albinism even though her family reported her missing on August 5 giving a full description of her appearance.
Family members described Mpunzi as being both physically and mentally different. Although Mpunzi was twenty one relatives reported that she was attending classes at Sibonisweni Primary School at a fourth grade level.
The four men appeared in in the Emanguzi Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. The case has been postponed until August 25.
