Thirty year old, east Palo Alto, California mother, Jimita Crayton, brought her eleven month old daughter to the Stanford hospital last weekend with a fractured skull and cocaine in her system.
Police were notified by the hospital after doctors determined the girl had a fractured skull and tested positive for cocaine in her urine.
Officials said that Crayton was not breastfeeding the child and denied using cocaine or abusing the girl.
Police arrested Crayton on child abuse charges.
On Tuesday, Crayton appeared in San Mateo County Superior Court in Redwood City and pleaded not guilty to charges of corporal injury to a child and child endangerment, with enhancements for inflicting great bodily injury on a child under the age of 5.
$125,000 bail was set for Crayton, who remains in custody.
