Three children are in the hospital after a forty three year old man poured flammable liquid on them and lit them on fire inside their Perth home.
The children, two girls four and seven years old and their brother who is six years old, were all transported to the Princess Margaret Hospital For Children after an off-duty female officer entered the home and took the children to a nearby residence.
The four year old girl remains is in a critical condition with serious burns.
Local residents reported that the man appeared highly agitated and was making verbal threats to a woman whom they believe to be the mother of the children and to injure himself, adding that the woman ran into the middle of the street crying out for help.
Witnesses reported hearing screams and threats coming from the house prior to the man attacking the children.
Police have charged the Doubleview man one count Aggravated Grievous Bodily Harm and two counts Attempted Grievous Bodily Harm. He is due to appear in court on Saturday.
While the two girls remain in the hospital, the six year old boy is currently with family members.
