On Monday, a man and woman in Afghanistan who were found guilty of adultery received one hundred lashes in front of a crowd of spectators. The punishment was aired on Afghan TV where many onlookers could be seen with cell phones capturing the barbaric incident.
A man with a leather whip beat the woman covered from head to toe and the man while many spectators sat in chairs and casually looked on.
A spokesman for governor Seema Jowenda said, “They had relations a long time ago but were arrested early this month,” adding, “Their punishment is based on Sharia law and will teach others a lesson”.
The sentencing was backed by the government in Ghor.
