Two Missouri parents who allowed their four children to live in filthy deplorable conditions were arrested on Sunday after their teenage son with Autism was seen running down the street naked.
Forty five year old, Daniel Schliessman III, and his wife, thirty six year old, Michelle Schliessman, were charged with child endangerment involving drugs. Michelle was also charged with drug possession after police found meth in her belongings.
Police on Sunday went to the couple’s home in Livingston County after they received a call saying that a fourteen year old boy with autism was running down the street naked in forty eight degree weather.
Police said that the boy has a history of leaving his home alone and running into traffic, adding that he was nearly hit by a car while his parents were using drugs.
Police went into the Schliessman home and found animal feces and vomit from the pets in multiple areas of the home, including the children’s bedrooms.
Authorities said that the children, who are between two to fifteen years of age, were extremely dirty, un-bathed and did not own toothbrushes. They reportedly had untreated bug bites on various places of their bodies.
Social workers removed the children from the home and both parents remain in jail.
