Yazidi people urge the International Criminal Court to investigate possible genocide

On Thursday, Advocates for Iraq’s Yazidi people, who have been the target of the Islamic State group, urged the International Criminal Court to investigate their persecution as a possible case of genocide.

Two Yazidi groups submitted a report detailing horrific atrocities they have suffered by Islamic State fighters since August 2014.

Included in the report was detailed accounts of the rape and enslavement of thousands of women, the abduction of children, forced conversions to Islam, summary executions and the killing of those that are sick or elderly.

The Islamic State group has publicly stated their intentions of wiping away the Yazidi people, labeling them as the worst of the unbelievers.
