Transgender woman sues a Kentucky nursing college after employees utterly humiliate her

A transgender woman has filed a lawsuit against a Kentucky nursing college on Friday alleging that the Galen College of Nursing discriminated against her because she is transgender.

Vanessa Gilliam, who is a US army veteran and a single parent, said that her transition began while in the nursing program.

Gilliam told reporters that while she received support from classmates two Galen employees approached her and asked to speak to her in private after she began to wear women’s clothing.

Employees allegedly told  her that they must protect others in the educational environment from her dressing like a woman and using the women’s restroom.

After being utterly humiliated to the point of not wanting to return to school, Gilliam filed the lawsuit in the Jefferson Circuit Court and is seeking reimbursement for her tuition and books, as well as damages for emotional trauma.
