The FBI on Tuesday announced that one hundred and forty nine underage sex trafficking victims were rescued and one hundred and fifty three pimps were arrested in a nationwide human trafficking operation conducted throughout the United States.
Operation Cross Country, now in its ninth year and spearheaded by the FBI and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, was carried out last week.
Authorities reported that the youngest victim in the operation this year was twelve years old and also cited rescuing underage males and transgender victims.
During the operation child victims receive crisis intervention along with medical care, food, clothing and shelter.
The operation spans across one hundred and thirty five American cities incorporating over five hundred law enforcement officials, including investigators and officers from federal, state and local law enforcement organizations and several non-governmental agencies.
