A woman in eastern China allegedly cut off the fingers and genitals of a six year old toddler for disrupting her sleep.
Police reported that the woman, known as Lui, who reportedly has a documented mental illness, was sleeping in her cousin’s house when a neighbor’s child came and played in her room.
Startled out of her sleep, she took the toddler out of the room and closed the door. The toddler then entered the room again. Lui became extremely enraged picked up a kitchen knife and scissors then stabbed the boy’s fingers, head, face and genitals. She later ran away.
The People’s Daily News reported that police found Lui in her home village and arrested the woman.
Relatives of the woman reported that she suffers from schizophrenia but police say they are unable to confirm that and that Lui may face a prison sentence of more than ten years.
The toddler’s family to local media that multiple fingers were cut off of the child’s hand and that the child’s genitals were removed and not recovered.
Doctors at Xiangya Hospital reported that the boy was seriously injured and some of the fingers and the genitals may not be reattached.
