A two year old toddler and nine month old baby were killed in a house fire in the in a Sunpedh village on Monday night.
Attackers doused the home in gasoline and set it on fire while the family was asleep.
The mother of is reported to be in critical condition and their father was injured while attempting to break down the locked door of the house.
Police said the fire is believed to have been started by the family’s upper caste neighbors citing the long history of enmity between the castes since three upper caste men were killed last year.
Rajnath Singh, the Federal Home Minister described the attack as “very unfortunate and condemnable”.
Authorities said that three people have been arrested and that police are searching for nine other suspects.
