Five British citizens killed after a Canadian whale-watching boat sank

Five British citizens were killed on Sunday after a Canadian whale-watching boat sank off the coast of British Columbia.

 

The Coast Guard, fisherman and private mariners attempted to save lives aboard the sinking boat carrying twenty seven passengers.

 

Five people are confirmed to be dead and one person remains missing.

 

United Kingdom Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond in a statement said, “My thoughts are with the family and friends of all those affected by this terrible accident”.

 

Jamie’s Whaling Station and Adventure Centres, the operators of the Leviathan II, said,”We are cooperating with investigators to determine exactly what happened”.

 

The majority of the twenty one people rescued were taken to the hospital and have since been released.
