Swedish police evacuated a Roma camp on Tuesday in Malmo after an estimated two hundred people settled there without permission.
Authorities said some of the people living in the camp had been there a very long time.
Camp dwellers were given a deadline to vacate after authorities declared the camp an environmental and public health hazard.
Protesters attempted to block police from entering the camp even biting one officer. Police said they detained at least six people.
Several protesters said that the eviction violates their human rights and that they should have been given another location to set up camp.
Authorities said that they were offered temporary shelter and assistance to travel back to Romania.
