Three human rights activists shot in Mexico City

Three human rights activists were shot while walking to a bus stop in Mexico City on Saturday when a vehicle with three people inside drove past them and open fired.


The activist are from both Michoacan and Hidalgo states and came into Mexico City to file complaints with human rights organizations over the abusive mistreatment of Indians.


All three activists, Matias Flores, Jesus Hernandez Reyes and Rubicel Hernandez Garcia were taken to General Balbuena Hospital where they were reported to have undergone surgery.


According to other activist the three men were accused by one gunman of “spreading gossip”.


Two of the activists are said to be in serious condition with gunshot wounds to both the the chest and stomach.
