Thousands of protesters rallied in Seoul, Korea

An estimated seventy thousand protesters rallied in various locations in Seoul, Korea against the government of President Park Geun-hye with a long list of grievances.

 

Police met protesters with tear gas and water cannons, detaining dozens and leaving one demonstrator critically injured.

 

Local media footage showed police standing on top of buses shooting water into the crowds of thousands of peaceful protesters.

 

Masked demonstrators could be seen carrying banners and chanting, “Park Geun-hye, step down” and “No to layoffs”.

 

Police said that these demonstrations were the largest the country has witnessed since 2008.
