A nineteen year old Chicago girl has been charged with first degree murder after throwing her newborn baby out of an eighth story window because the baby was of mixed race and her family would have not approved.
Police said that Mubashra Uddin confessed to throwing the baby out the window after giving birth.
The baby girl was found by a man visiting the apartment building on Wednesday. He reported the baby’s body lifeless in a patch of grass next to a garbage dumpster.
Police said that the baby girl was was rushed to Weiss Memorial Hospital in critical condition where she died just moments after arriving.
According to the Cook County Medical Examiner the cause of death was blunt-force trauma.
Under Illinois law, parents unable to cope with caring for a newborn can safely drop off an infant less than thirty days old at a medical facility, fire or police station and walk away, no questions asked.
