Spanish judge issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu

A Spanish judge had issued an arrest warrant for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the 2010 Freedom Flotilla attack that left ten Turkish human rights activists dead.

Israeli soldiers stormed the Turkish Mavi Marmara ship in May 2010 after the ship attempted to break Israel’s blockade of the Gaza Strip and provide aid to its residents.

Judge Jose de la Mata has ordered police to alert him if  Netanyahu or any of the six former Israeli officials enter Spain.

Israel, to date, maintains that the activists were linked with the Muslim Brotherhood and that the soldiers who stormed the ship tried “peacefully” to take control of it but acted in self defense after being attacked.
