Police in Nepal open fire on protesters killing at least two people

Police in Nepal open fired on ethnic protesters blocking the nation’s main highway killing at least two demonstrators.

 

Authorities said that police were attempting to stop protesters from blocking the highway when they were attacked with bombs made of petrol, spears and bricks.

 

Twenty five police officers and several protesters were injured in two different attacks.

 

Authorities said that a curfew was imposed to stop further violence.

 

An estimated forty eight people have been killed in the protests since August.
