Unlicensed medical practitioner sentenced to twenty five years in prison for infecting people with HIV

A Cambodian court on Thursday sentenced an unlicensed medical practitioner to twenty five years in prison after finding him responsible for infecting more than one hundred people with HIV by reusing unsanitized syringes.

 

Yem Chrin was found guilty of cruel behavior resulting in death, intentionally spreading HIV and practicing medicine without a license.

 

Ten people infected by Chrin have already died.

 

Chrin said that he did not mean any harm and that he was only trying to help people the community.
