British authorities said the knife attacker at the Leytonstone station was attempting to behead one victim

British authorities said that the knife attacker inside an east London tube was attempting to behead one of the victims.

Police also reported finding Islamic State group materials on the assailant’s telephone.

Twenty nine year old, Muhaydin Mire, appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in central London on Monday facing charges including the attempted murder of a fifty six year old man who was seriously injured at the Leytonstone station.

The attacker is said to have shouted “This is for Syria” before police tasered the man and then arrested him.

Bystanders could be heard yelling at the man in video footage posted to several social media accounts, “You ain’t no Muslim bruv”.

Mire will remain in custody and appear at the Old Bailey, a higher court, on Friday.
