A bus headed to the city of Mandera, near the border of Somalia was ambushed by Al-Shabaab terrorists on Monday demanding that Christians and Muslims separate themselves, but the Muslim passengers told the attackers to “kill them all or leave them alone”.
Over one hundred passengers were on the bus at the time of the ambush when the terrorist group demanded the Muslim passengers to come off of the bus. They refused.
Instead, the Muslim passengers gave head scarves to the Christian woman and hid several others behind luggage on the bus.
The passengers then told the terrorist group, “If you want to kill us, then kill us. There are no Christians here”.
One Christian man who attempted to flee was shot dead and a driver of a truck who was following the bus was also killed.
The attackers left but warned they would return.
The interior cabinet secretary, Nkaissery, told reporters, “We are all Kenyans, we are not separated by religion,” adding “We are one people as a nation. And this is a very good message from my brothers and sisters from the Muslim community”.
