Starvation, lack of medical resources and death as Syrian villages hit extremely dire conditions

The International Committee of the Red Cross has warned of extremely dire situations in three Syrian villages as civilians are dying from lack of food and medicine.

Activists said that in government-held Foah and Kefraya civilians have been seen eating grass in order to survive. In Hezbollah controlled Madaya, civilians have died trying to escape suffering starvation and lack of medical resources.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said that at least ten people in recent weeks have died from starvation and thirteen others were shot dead by pro-government forces.

Several civilians are reported to have been blown up by landmines while attempting to search for food.

The human rights group said that at least three hundred children are suffering from malnutrition and that over one thousand people inside Madaya have chronic illnesses.
