A Muslim woman wearing a hijab, a yellow star similar of that worn by Jews during the Holocaust and standing in silent protest was escorted by police out of Donald Trump’s campaign event on Friday.
Fifty six year old, Rosa Hamid, along with her friend stood up silently during Trump’s speech after he suggested that Syrian refugees fleeing war in Syria were affiliated with the Islamic State group.
While Hamid stood silently and peacefully Trump’s campaign staff had her and her friend escorted out of the event.
Hamid told reporters that several people in the crowd booed the pair making statements such as, “You have a bomb”.
In response to their silent and peaceful protest Trump from the podium told the crowd at the event, “There is hatred against us that is unbelievable,” adding, “It’s their hatred, it’s not our hatred”.
Hamid told reporters that her intention was not to cause a disruption or scream and shout but just give Trump supporters a look at what Muslim people are like.
