At least ten people have been killed and over fifteen others injured in Istanbul, Turkey on Tuesday after a huge explosion reportedly carried out by a suicide bomber who blew himself up in the city’s Sultanahmet Square.
Authorities said that the bomb was detonated near the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack but officials say the suicide bomber has “Syrian roots”.
Authorities believe the attack was carried out by the Islamic State group.
Six German citizens, one Norwegian and a Peruvian were reported to be injured in the attack. Nine of the dead are said to be foreign tourists.
