Fighters from the Islamic State group said that they carried out an attack on Thursday that targeted foreign nationals and security forces tasked with protecting them in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.
At least two civilians were killed and several others injured after explosions and gunfire erupted outside of a popular Starbucks.
Police said that the assailants had grenades and guns and that at least one had been on a motorcycle.
One of the two civilians killed in the attack was Canadian, and the other was Indonesian.
Video footage showed at least two of the attackers blowing themselves up along with a series of blasts near a Burger King restaurant.
Authorities said that at least three hundred Indonesians have left to join and fight with the Islamic State group.
