Thirteen people were killed after a suicide bomber blew himself up outside of the home of a tribal elder in the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad on Sunday.
The attacker targeted the home of Malik Usman Shinwari, who is said to be the father of two prominent government officials.
Authorities said that Shinwari was injured in the attack, but his wounds did not appear to be life threatening.
An undisclosed number of guests were visiting Shinwari’s home at the time of the attack when the suicide bomber, who has not been identified, detonated his explosives.
Officials said that no group has claimed responsibility for the attack and that the Taliban has denied any link to the suicide bomber.
