Islamic State executes fifteen of its own members

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said on Sunday the Islamic State group has executed fifteen of its own members in what activists say is the largest number of executions carried out against its own people to-date in Syria.

According to the human rights group, thirty-five members were arrested on Saturday in the city of Raqqa.

The Observatory said the executions were carried out against the members in connection with the assassination of senior Islamic State figure Abu Hija al-Tunisi who was killed in an airstrike on Wednesday.
