Video footage uploaded to YouTube showed a San Antonio Independent School District police officer body-slamming a twelve-year-old girl to a hard concrete floor resulting in her face and head slamming into the ground.
Witnesses said the girl was having a conversation with another peer at the time of the altercation with the police officer who accused her of attempting to kick him citing the girl was going to start a fight with the other student.
The girl’s mother, Gloria Valdez, told reporters that her daughter is now suffering severe headaches as a result of the officer’s use of excessive force knocking the young girl unconscious.
According to school officials, the officer was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation.
Local media sources identified the officer as Joshua Kehm who has worked with the San Antonio Independent School District since February 2015.
