Police in China arrest Human Rights lawyer Ge Yongxi over a post on social media

Police in China briefly detained Human Rights lawyer Ge Yongxi over posts he made using social media regarding the leaked Panama Papers.

Yongxi was arrested in Guangzhou and later released on Friday after posting a picture of the Panama Canal, with images of President Xi Jinping and two former Chinese leaders photoshopped into the picture.

Several Chinese leader’s relatives were cited in the leaked documents believed to have links to offshore firms.

Yongxi told reporters authorities made him promise in writing not to show the photo to anyone again.
