The government of Ethiopia said over two hundred people have been killed and one hundred children kidnapped during cross-border raids by South Sudan between the months of March and April.
On Friday, the government says that one hundred and eighty-two civilians were killed and two thousand cattle were stolen in thirteen different neighborhoods.
According to Ethiopian authorities, armed militants of South Sudan’s Murle tribe have made continuous attempts to infiltrate the border between the two countries.
Residents said that they believe the children were kidnapped to act as “workers” for the militant group.
Officials said the Ethiopian forces killed at least sixty of the attackers and authorities have declared two days of mourning.
